The competition continues to increase in solar roofing. Dow Chemical launched the first solar shingles in 2016, followed shortly thereafter by Tesla, who is now considered the market leader. Soltech’s offering of colourful and innovative facades is one way that the company stands out, as is their ability to optimise performance through the whole chain.

Their current range of solutions includes products such as the Soltech ShingEl, Soltech RooF, Soltech Surface-mounted solar cells, batteries, charging ports, and Soltech Facade.

High initial capital costs are still a deterrent, leading building owners to choose traditional roofs over solar roofs. That said, growing demand coupled with lower production and installation costs are expected to have a positive impact on the market for solar shingles for years to come.
