The Swedish company, Peckas Naturodlingar is a world-leading aquaponics (fish farming) company which addresses the environmental issues caused by traditional fish farming. They do this by farming fish and growing herbs and vegetables in a closed growth cycle in land-based greenhouses.

Traditional fish farming is the main alter- native in this category, but it creates an enormous amount of water pollution, and has a negative impact both on the environment and on fish populations globally. If all the fish farms on Earth were replaced with this system, fish farming would produce net-zero emissions.

During the winter, the greenhouses use waste heat from nearby malls and other large buildings. 

Peckas delivers complete solutions that include building the facility and installing the self-developed PICS software. PICS makes it possible to control the facility remotely, including feeding the fish, making sure that the facility has a high output, and ensuring the fish are healthy. 

Their facilities can be placed anywhere, as long as the surface is flat. Peckas Naturodlingar owns the largest facility globally, where they have 13,000 square meters of farming, including a hatchery. 

Their products can be bought in Lidl supermarkets all over Sweden and other supermarkets in the northern parts of Sweden.
